April '14 • Brooklyn Blooming

Sunday, April 27, 2014

Ah, Brooklyn. I don't get a chance to go down to Brooklyn often, but my visits there are always enjoyable and quite calm (contrary to busy downtown). On this day, I went to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden to see cherry blossom trees in bloom! Of course, the place was packed with people, but nonetheless, the trees and flowers were beautiful. Only in the spring, we fully appreciate the beauty of the flowers so I try to make the best effort to see cherry blossoms every spring. And it just felt so nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and escape to nature.

Yes, guys, I am wearing the same floppy hat from my previous post, but I love this hat and it was appropriate for the weather/occasion. This is another festival-ish look, now that I think about it! I am wearing a Zara tank and Cotton On skirt, keeping it comfy and simple. Oh, I have a confession to make. I can only wear baggy bottoms for right now because I scraped my knees pretty badly a couple of days ago (High heel problems)...Yeup. Really painful and gross, but let's not get into detail about it. I am a skinny jeans type person, and it's depressing that I can't throw on my favorite American Apparel Easy Jeans and go out the door because those pants brush against the pants. Ugh. Hopefully, it will heal soon.

Hope you guys are having a fantastic day!

School work has been pretty intense for the past couple of weeks, but this weekend isn't as hectic, so I wanted to make the best of it by heading to the MoMA! MoMA, or the Museum of Modern Art, has great collections of modern art ranging from contemporary paintings to photographs to sculptures. Picasso, Monet, and Warhol are just some of the many artists that contributed to the museum collection. The museum is free for NYU students (which is awesome!), but the tickets themselves are not expensive at all so it's definitely worth checking out it you're ever in the area! The contemporary paintings were familiar to me, but what I really enjoyed seeing were the weird and cool sculptures all around the museum and the outdoor area.

My outfit looks festival-ish because of the floppy hat and the flowy top, but hey, if you can't go to a festival, at least dress like you're going, right? I think the Mom jeans go well with the girly wedges and make the look more polished, which I am pleased with :)

Last two week stretch and then I'm back in California! Hoping for a memorable summer, but in the mean time, I am going to work my ass off to finish strong this semester!

April '14 • Bowery and Hologram, Oh my!

Monday, April 21, 2014

New York is looking beautiful these days with clear skies and warm weather! Although finals are approaching my way, I decided to leave my room for the day and enjoy the outdoors with my suitemate. I have been wanting to go to the Bowery Mural on Bowery and E Houston Street (because murals are always cool, right? ) so we headed there after our lovely lunch at Curry Ya on 2nd Ave. Various artists over the years have created their version of the mural here and this time around, artists Maya Hayuk created her signature style on this wall. It wasn't as big as I thought it was, but nonetheless, very pretty and colorful! I toned down my outfit to simple pieces because I did not want to clash with the colorful mural. I wore my new white Zara shoes, which I love to death, but I'm still working them in, so I definitely acquired some blisters...Ouch. I'm also holding my new American Apparel Hologram Clutch for my simple outing outfit! I know I won't be able to post as much in the next few weeks because of school, but bear with me and I promise I'll post lots of fun things for the up coming summer!

April '14 • Insta Recap

Saturday, April 19, 2014

Instagram is one of my favorite social media platform and I am constantly going on it to browse other people's fashion and lifestyle photos. These are some of my insta pics from the past month that did not make it on to the blog, so here it is!

1) Captain America OOTD: I watched a late night showing of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" a couple of weeks ago, and I loved it! I really enjoy watching all Marvel superhero movies and the Universe they created with Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and all that good stuff!

2)Mille-Feuille Macaroons: These yummy macaroons are from a cute little bakery near my school. I am pretty addicted to these tiny pastries and can't get enough of them!

3) "It's a little warmer": A typical school outfit. I adore these trousers because I don't have anything like it and it fits nicely on my body. It felt just a teeny bit warmer than usual that day, so I ditched the coat and went for the fuzzy cardigan! ...Now that I'm looking at this outfit, everything is from H&M haha!

4) Shiny Things: My recent purchases...I love both items so much! The pointed toe white moccasins are from Zara and I'm still breaking them in (painful) but it's worth the investment because I don't own anything like this. The hologram clutch is another item that is very unique and gorgeous--it is from American Apparel.

Sorry I've been slacking on the posting...finals season is coming fast and I'm swamped with schoolwork and newspaper work! But, summer is in a month and I promise I'll have lots more to post about when I get back to the West Coast!
