June '15 • Dressing for the Flea

Friday, June 26, 2015

Urban Outfitters dress, H&M hat, Coach bag, Crystal Chimera necklace

Here is a quick outfit I wore to the Brooklyn flea last weekend! Little bit of bag lady vibes, but it was perfect for my day of browsing the vintage stands in Williamsburg. No luck picking up clothing items, but I did find this dainty gold bat necklace from Artists and Fleas. I've been interested in collecting smaller jewelry and this one caught my eye as I was eagerly stomping through the various vendors. I guess it's a favorite of mine now since I haven't taken it off since I bought it. Look forward to seeing this little guy on my neck in upcoming ootds (Maybe I should name him--any suggestions?)

TGIF everyone!

Urban Outfitters shirt, H&M shorts, Adidas Stan Smith sneakers, Ray Ban sunglasses, Forever 21 jewelry, Coach bag

Hey everyone!

Posting a quick summer look for you guys today. I think my color palette consists of white, black, and blue these days, so my apologies for the similar style of outfit, but I wear what I want haha! Since interning at ELLE, I've been interested in putting together semi-causal outfits because I don't want to look too sloppy at work, but at the same time, I want to stay true to my style. I bought this button up on the Urban Outfitters website (so many stores are having summer sales right now so browse around!) and the white shorts are from H&M. This is definitely a fuss-free outfit that I can see myself wearing throughout the summer (sorry, I AM an outfit-repeater--aka Lizze Mcguire anybody?) And of course, my love--Adidas Stan Smith--had to be worn with this look because I've converted to a sneaker head since beginning of this year! These babies actually took a while for me to break them in--the tabs on the heels gave me nasty blisters because they're really stiff leather sneakers--but they're super comfortable now and I can walk on NYC pavement for hours!

It's a beautiful Sunday today and I'm headed my way towards Brooklyn! Hopefully I can capture some of the activities I'm doing today and update you guys later :) Thanks for reading and let me know what you guys are doing today or this summer! I love reading your stories <3

October '14 • Falling in Love with Sunglasses- Warby Parker x 826

Sunday, October 26, 2014

First Outfit: House of Harlow Sunglasses, Forever 21 Necklace and Sweater, American Apparel Skirt and Tights, Vagabond Boots, Coach bag
Second Outfit: ASOS Hat, Ray-ban Sunglasses, &Other Stories Sweater, American Apparel Jeans, T.U.K Creepers

Hello everyone! I am back with a new post today and this one is all about sunglasses! Sure, you might say 'Yujin, it's not summer anymore! Why are you writing a post about sunglasses?', but I was actually inspired to do this by Warby Parker and their newest collaboration with 826NYC and 826LA!

Warby Parker has partnered up with 826 National, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping students build up their writing skills, and also encourages teachers to support their students' creative interests and imagination. Both 826 and Warby Parker value the power of creativity, reading, and writing, and in honor of this collaboration, Warby Parker decided to create a brand new pair of frames--the Kidd. Each limited edition-frame is engraved with a unique edition number (out 826 pairs...clever!) and is available in optical (link here) , for the NYC branch, and sunglasses (link here), for the LA branch. They are also sponsoring original publications put together by the students: The Review from 826 NYC which features short stories, poems, essays, and Activity Book from 826LA filled with fun prompts and projects for students. The proceeds from the book purchases go back to 826!

I was attracted to this collab because I appreciate what Warby Parker is doing to support a wonderful non-profit devoted to assisting students explore their creativity within the realms of reading and writing. Similar to their unique frame for 826, I put together two outfits unique to my autumn style revolving around some of my favorite pairs of sunnies!

The first outfit is girly and season appropriate with these House of Harlow sunnies. I love knits and corduroy during the fall/winter because it brings forth coziness and warmth just by looking at the material. To top off my knit sweater and corduroy circle skirt, I added a silver coin necklace to give some flare and covered up my legs with the swirly tights. And since I love giving myself some height, I added my favorite Vagabond boots to complete the look!

The second outfit is more boyish and cool with my reflective sunnies from Ray Bans. Although you might think reflective sunglasses are more appropriate for the summer, you can still wear them in the colder months paired with fuzzy knits and darker colors! I wanted to bring out the blue of the sunglasses with my new &Other Stories crew neck sweater and went simple with my bottom with American Apparel jeans. I busted out my creepers for the first time in months now that the weather has cooled down and I am not sweating up a storm wearing them! And I can't forget to plop on a hat to satisfy my on-going hat addiction.

Let me know what you think of the outfits and check out Warby Parker x 826 Collaboration to support this awesome event!

August '14 • Pretty in Blue

Thursday, August 14, 2014

F21 jean vest, Thrifted top, F21 skirt

West coast, best coast baby! With only a couple weeks left in SoCal, my blogger/college friend Kelly from Creme de la Chic (link here) and I headed to the iconic Santa Monica Pier to catch up and shoot some photos. Ironically, I decided to use a blue wall as my background instead of the colorful carnival scenery, but I didn't mind since the rich blue hues in my outfit and the wall made the pictures more interesting.

Although I just met Kelly back in April, I feel as if we've been friends for much longer and it's always a pleasure spending the day with her, talking about fashion, college, and our boyfriends. It's definitely a new experience having a friend who's also a blogger, but I admire her knowledge and dedication to blogging and often find myself inspired by the things she posts.

Coming back to my outfit: Summer is winding down and I wanted to bust out this blue flare skirt from Forever 21 because the color just screams 'cool'. My goal to this outfit was to bring the city to the beach by pairing the vibrant blue skirt with a graphic tee and denim vest. The skirt and the wooden wedge heels contribute to the beachy aspect of this outfit, while the tee and vest tone it down to a city-vibe look. I love mixing and matching, and this combination of girly and edgy suits my personal style perfectly.

For my last two weeks of summer, I want to read one more Murakami book and enjoy my time with the people I love. Let me know if you have one last goal for the remainder of your summer! I would love to know.

Lots of Love,

Yujin

August '14 • Autumn...Summer with byGGXNA

Saturday, August 9, 2014

Hi guys! It's been a while since I posted, huh? I apologize for my laziness. I don't know what has come over me these days (maybe the devil named Netfilx), but for some reason, I'm lacking creativity in terms of generating interesting posts for this blog. I did get a chance to shoot with my photographer and friend Gina from byGGXNA again recently for a very exciting *but sorta secret* project. These outfits are geared more toward fall weather, so I was breaking a sweat taking these photos, but I enjoyed driving around my neighborhood and modeling various outfits for this!

I want to thank Gina once again for being such a great photographer and it's always a delight catching up :) In terms of this project, I might be able to deliver good news to you guys in a couple months if it ends up working out! Tell me if you're looking forward to the upcoming fall, and suggest what kinds of posts I should do in the future? Do you guys want to know more about me (like a personal tag post) or maybe shopping haul posts?

Lots of Love,

Yujin

July' 14 • Victorious Youth with byGGXNA

Monday, July 7, 2014

Hello Everyone! Today, I have a special collaboration post with photographer/artist Gina Park, or byGGXNA!

Gina and I have known each other for quite some time now--we went to the same high school and studied art together. We recently reconnected and decided to take this trip to the Getty Villa in Malibu because we've both never been and it seemed like the perfect backdrop for our photoshoot. The Getty Villa is an extension of the the Getty Center Museum in Los Angeles and it showcases ancient Greek and Roman art, along with the stunning architecture, of course!

Although it might look like a dress, I am actually wearing a romper I picked up from TJ Maxx! It's comfortable and airy--perfect for days at the museum. And since my love for hats never die, I wore my Topshop floppy sun hat to keep the sun out of my eyes and wore my minimalist white sandals from Zara to complete a summer look.

I decided to name this post "Victorious Youth" after one of the Villa's most famous statue, Victorious Youth. This statue is a bronze Greek statue of a young man crowning himself with a wreath. From the title of the statue and the significance of the wreath in the Olympic Games (the wreath was a prize for a victor in the Games), we can probably guess that this young man triumphed over his competitors in the Olympics. I felt drawn towards this title because I want to be able to find victory and success in whatever I do in my future.

Gina is a wonderful photographer, and although she's just starting out, I can see that she has so much potential and talent! She's also a talented artist so check out her site byGGXNA (link here)

Stay tuned for more collabs with byGGXNA in future posts!

Yujin
