Topshop duster coat, Forever 21 sweater, UNIF jeans, Steve Madden booties, Chanel bag, Rayban sunglasses

Hello lovelies!

Forgive me for my absence--I took a week off from doing anything after finals and my internship ended! Plus, my little sister flew into town and stayed with me for one week, so I was preoccupied with family matters.

On this day, we decided to take a walk up to the Museum of Natural History since it was my sister's last day in New York, and the weather was just too nice not to be outside! I especially enjoy winter days when the sun is shining while the air is still crisp and cool to the skin. I recently bought these holey UNIF jeans at the Urban Outfitters sale, and yes, it might not be winter appropriate, but you can easily wear ripped jeans in the colder months with some thick tights underneath to cover up the bare legs! And since I've been in a colorless mood lately, I paired the jeans with a cream sweater and a black duster coat for a monochrome look. Of course, I piled on some necklaces to avoid looking too plain, and the coral bag with the mirrored sunnies add the punch of color this outfit needed.

I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas with your family and friends! I'm guessing that this is my last post of 2014, and let me tell you, I am so ready for 2015! This year has brought many changes in my life--some great and some not so great--but I feel stronger coming out of the other side and can't wait to see what 2015 has stored for me. Wishing every a Happy New Years, and maybe I'll come back one more time before 2015 for a wrap-up post! But till then, love you all and talk to you soon :)

Yujin

H&M jacket, Topshop top, Topshop trousers, Topshop oxfords, Casio watch, Prada bag

Hi guys!

I'm not going to write too much about this outfit today, but this is my Topshop-filled outfit post! I am in the midst of finishing up my fall semester of Junior year, and that means lots of papers and exams in the next week. But I am excited to wrap up the semester and start my winter break in the City! My sister and my boyfriend Justin will both be in New York with me this winter, so I am looking forward to sharing my days with you guys through this blog!

My patterned top and trousers are from the Topshop Black Friday sale that I was talking about in my previous post. I've been rocking the trouser, boyish-look these days because I find trousers more comfortable and easy to move in than jeans. My oxfords are also from Topshop, and they are becoming one of my favorite shoes to sport! Again, these are super comfortable and perfect for stomping around the City!

I can't wait to come back to you guys with more fun content soon! Let me know if you're also finishing up school ! Muah!

Yujin

Urban Outfitters hat, UO scarf, Zara coat, UNIF sweater dress, Aeropostale jeans, Vagabond boots, Prada bag

Hi all!

Today, I am sharing my Black Friday outfit in the City! This is my first Thanksgiving in New York and although I miss being in California, I had a wonderful time with my little sister (who flew in from Cali) and went nuts for the sales on Black Friday!! I was excited for the sales this year because I was spending it in one of the greatest shopping cities in the world, but at the same time, a little worried about the crowds of people and the craziness that is the Black Friday sale.

So, we decided to get up bright and early and headed out the door by 8:30am to our first store: Urban Outfitters. Their sales were not as impressing (only the sale items were reduced), so we did not stay long and headed downtown to Soho! I had better luck there with Topshop and was able to buy a whole outfit and some socks (I have my practical needs ><), which made me a very happy camper! My sister also bought some items to gear up for the upcoming cold months, and overall had an adventurous Black Friday in the City.

Now that it is the end of November, the temperature in the City is dropping to the 30s (fahrenheit). Since it was pretty cold and I knew we were hitting shops not in a mall but outdoors, I dressed for the weather with a thick wool coat from Zara and a black sweater dress from UNIF to cover the belly from the day before! This plaid scarf is one of my favorite accessories to adorn this year because it's a great statement piece without being too flashy. I wore my blue fedora to match the blue in my scarf and slipped into my Vagabond boots because they are the most comfortable walking boots I ever own! They've even molded into the shape of my feet!

I can't wait to share the outfit I got from Topshop! Look out for that post in the near future :) Now that there is only two more weeks left of this semester, I'll have more time to blog, so stay with me and good luck to everybody with finals! We can do this!!

xo,

Yujin

P.S. The lovely Lorna from the fashion blog "The Fashion Supernova" interviewed me for her Blogger of the Month post! Check it out and give your girl some support! <3

November '14 • 20 Facts About Me

Saturday, November 15, 2014

Above: Fall flowers from the Union Square Market, Below: Me soaking in the morning sun at Washington Square Park

Hey, let's get personal.

Hi guys! It's little ol' me here with something different today! But before I start, I apologize again for my lack of posts in the last few months. I mean...life gets to you sometimes! And junior year of college has seriously been kicking my butt! I'm not complaining about the classes I'm taking or the internship I have right now, but it's just so hard to find time to create quality posts for you guys because I want my posts to look and sound as best as they can be! But don't fret! Winter break is fast approaching and that means more time for me to take pictures and write! Woo!

Okay, back to this post: I've been wanting to write a personal post about me for a while since I want you guys to know more about me as a person, not just sharing what I wore for that day or blah blah blah. I enjoy blogging because it gives an introvert like me (oops, first fact!) a space to branch out and just talk without feeling scared or hesitant. And it seems like everyone in the blogging community support and love one another, so I wanted to join in and share some facts about me!!

So without further ado...here we go :)

1. Yes, I am pretty shy. I consider myself an introvert, but once I get to know someone, I do not stop talking. I would want to know more about you and ask you questions and become friends, you know? It's always the first impressions that scare me ><

2. I live with my cat, Coco. She's about six years old and she's a grey Persian-mixed kitty cat! This is the first year of living alone for me so it's nice to have my cat to keep me company on those days I feel just a little bit lonely.

3. I recently turned 21 years old and if you live in the States, you know that your 21st birthday marks the official start of your "adult" years (Scary!).

4. I am 21 years old, but I'm basically a big kid. I like my naps, I like anything Disney-related (movies, Disneyland...you name it), I eat junk food all the time...It's bad guys ><

5. I am full Korean. I was born in Incheon, Korea but moved to California during the second grade.

6. I've moved around quite a bit--but between the U.S. and Korea (I went to middle school for two years in Korea, but Elementary and High School was in California).

7. I love Korean BBQ! Definitely a meat person thanks to my dad! I need my intake of KBBQ at least once a month.

8. I can't cook. Plain and simple. Maybe it's the lack of patience to wait for food to cook, or I'm just lazy...I don't know! But the food I make isn't all that great and no one will eat it except for me :/

9. I do want to learn how to bake! I've started watching Cupcake Wars on Netflix (because who doesn't love cupcakes?!) and I wish I had that talent to bake yummy cupcakes like the bakers on the show!

10. I am currently studying Media, Culture, and Communications at my college. So I take classes based on the media, culture, and communications. Pretty straightforward, huh?

11. I take the subway everyday to get to class. I used to be afraid of going on the subways because I didn't know what it meant when the subways went uptown or downtown or across or whatever. It took me two years to get used to living in the City, so what do you expect? I can navigate around now, thank goodness!

12. For the two years in college, I felt really out of place and awkward in New York because I missed California too much. I guess I didn't really give myself a chance to appreciate living in one of the greatest cities in the world, but New York can be a tough place to live if you're not from here. But this year, I am taking classes I love and working hard so I'm happy and content being here :)

13. I've been listening to the same music for the last, um, I want to say, four months now? I've been replaying Ariana Grande's new album "My Everything", Arctic Monkeys' "AM", Ed Sheeran's "X", and added Michael Buble's Christmas album ;)

14. Coffee over tea any day! I used to exclusively drink sugary coffee because I associated Americanos and black coffee as something my mom would drink, but I try now to drink black coffee and I enjoy it! Cutting back on sugar one step at a time!

15. I love reading when I find a good book. And I mean, REALLY, good. When I engage in a book, I will not stop reading until I've finished the entire thing. Usually in a couple of days. That's why I read mostly during breaks because I know I have no prior commitment to homework or anything so I can read on and on without worry :) I've especially been loving Haruki Murakami's books as of late. I read 'Kafka on the Shore', 'Norwegian Wood', and 'Sputnik Sweetheart'. All wonderfully strange books...and that's why they are so great :)

16. I am a creature of habit. I'm that kind of girl that likes a certain thing on the menu and orders the same thing every time. I think after I started dating my boyfriend, I learned how to branch out to other things on the menu and I am grateful for him showing me that there are so many yummy things in this world! Haha!

17. Speaking of my boyfriend, Justin and I have been dating for more than three years now. We're high school sweethearts and starting dating in the beginning of our senior year. We're in a long distance relationship, with him in California and me in New York, but we've been making it work! Even through all the arguments,  we still love each other and we're growing up together :) I love him <3

18. I am not necessarily a huge fan of old, classic Hollywood movies, but from the ones I've watched, I really enjoyed 'Rear Window' directed by none other than Alfred Hitchcock, and 'Roman Holiday' & 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' which are Audrey Hepburn films! Grace Kelly is the leading female character in 'Rear Window' and she is so graceful, beautiful, elegant...everything! Her fashion sense in this film is also so modern and beautiful. Same goes for Audrey Hepburn! Both ladies are beautiful and I get a kick out of observing their fashion in these movies!

19. Mac all the way. iPhone all the way.  Basically Apple products are the only products I'll use in terms of tech gadgets (Even though I am not smart when it comes to computers and science...you get why I'm in the major that I am in now, right?)

20. I'm kind of short. 5 foot 2 inches to be exact. I always wish I was just a tiny bit taller, but hey, that what heels and boots are for! I love my shoes, the high, but comfortable ones ;)

There it is! 20 facts about me! It's a mix of petty facts and some interesting ones, but I hope you guys enjoyed getting to know me a little better. There is more of me than just these 20 facts, but being put on the spot to write about yourself is not as easy as you think! Let me know a fact about you, I would love to know! I hope to come back with a fashion post soon, so till then, have a wonderful, sun-filled day!!

October '14 • Falling in Love with Sunglasses- Warby Parker x 826

Sunday, October 26, 2014

First Outfit: House of Harlow Sunglasses, Forever 21 Necklace and Sweater, American Apparel Skirt and Tights, Vagabond Boots, Coach bag
Second Outfit: ASOS Hat, Ray-ban Sunglasses, &Other Stories Sweater, American Apparel Jeans, T.U.K Creepers

Hello everyone! I am back with a new post today and this one is all about sunglasses! Sure, you might say 'Yujin, it's not summer anymore! Why are you writing a post about sunglasses?', but I was actually inspired to do this by Warby Parker and their newest collaboration with 826NYC and 826LA

Warby Parker has partnered up with 826 National, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping students build up their writing skills, and also encourages teachers to support their students' creative interests and imagination. Both 826 and Warby Parker value the power of creativity, reading, and writing, and in honor of this collaboration, Warby Parker decided to create a brand new pair of frames--the Kidd. Each limited edition-frame is engraved with a unique edition number (out 826 pairs...clever!) and is available in optical (link here) , for the NYC branch, and sunglasses (link here), for the LA branch. They are also sponsoring original publications put together by the students: The Review from 826 NYC which features short stories, poems, essays, and Activity Book from 826LA filled with fun prompts and projects for students. The proceeds from the book purchases go back to 826!

I was attracted to this collab because I appreciate what Warby Parker is doing to support a wonderful non-profit devoted to assisting students explore their creativity within the realms of reading and writing. Similar to their unique frame for 826, I put together two outfits unique to my autumn style revolving around some of my favorite pairs of sunnies!

The first outfit is girly and season appropriate with these House of Harlow sunnies. I love knits and corduroy during the fall/winter because it brings forth coziness and warmth just by looking at the material. To top off my knit sweater and corduroy circle skirt, I added a silver coin necklace to give some flare and covered up my legs with the swirly tights. And since I love giving myself some height, I added my favorite Vagabond boots to complete the look!

The second outfit is more boyish and cool with my reflective sunnies from Ray Bans. Although you might think reflective sunglasses are more appropriate for the summer, you can still wear them in the colder months paired with fuzzy knits and darker colors! I wanted to bring out the blue of the sunglasses with my new &Other Stories crew neck sweater and went simple with my bottom with American Apparel jeans. I busted out my creepers for the first time in months now that the weather has cooled down and I am not sweating up a storm wearing them! And I can't forget to plop on a hat to satisfy my on-going hat addiction.

Let me know what you think of the outfits and check out Warby Parker x 826 Collaboration to support this awesome event!

Yujin

Topshop Duster Coat, Forever 21 Dress, Vagabond Boots, Baggu Backpack, Madewell Bracelet

Long time, no talk! Has it already been over a month since I last posted? Is it already the end of October? Where has time gone? I'm afraid to ask.

Hi guys! Sorry for my *very long* hiatus! My time management in terms of school, interning, and blogging wasn't really working out the way I wanted it to, and prevented me from posting for a long time.  Since living on my own, I realized how much time and energy it takes to take care of myself--feeding myself, going to classes, working, etc. But blogging is a way for me to take a deep breath and enjoy some down time when I can, so I am ecstatic to be able to share my recent trip to Brooklyn in this post!

My boyfriend Justin visited me in New York last weekend and we had always wanted to visit Coney Island in Brooklyn, so we took the Q train all the way down to the last stop: Coney Island. Unfortunately, we did not realize that the carnival is closed during the weekdays in the fall months, so we couldn't get it, but got a glimpse of the vintage rides and remnants of summer adventures. We also planned on visiting the New York Aquarium, conveniently located right next to Coney Island, but we had to wait till 3 o'clock to get into the Aquarium for "free" (You can pay a donation amount of your choice after 3pm instead of paying for a regular ticket) so we strolled along the boardwalk to kill some time. It turned out to be a pleasant walk--it's hard to find time to just enjoy being with someone without worries and I felt rejuvenated after this mini adventure.

Growing up on the West Coast has always made me fond of the ocean and its endlessness. Experiencing the East Coast waters was a strange feeling--it felt as if the Atlantic is quieter and more collected than the vivacious Pacific Ocean. Walking along the boardwalk made me miss my home back on the West Coast, but I promised to myself that I would try to come back to the oceanside when the weather is warm.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention, I cut my hair! Thank you for noticing if you did and I don't know...I just felt like I needed a change so I went in one day and chopped it off! It's a liberating feeling being able to make decisions like this one without discussing with my parents (haha). One step towards adulthood!

I also turned 21 in September and Justin and I reached our third anniversary! I can't wait to see what the rest of 2014 has stored for me...and you! Tell me what you guys have been up to and keep warm! I'm already sick from the wishy washy weather in New York!

Talk to you soon,

Yujin

Six Flags outfit: Rayban sunnies, Foreign Exchange top, LoveCulture shorts, Unknown belt
Las Vegas outfit: UO hat, Madewell top, UO shorts, Korea flats, Prada bag

Hi guys! I've missed you so much! I am so very sorry I haven't posted in ages! When back-to-school season rolls around, I am just thrown off guard by the amount of stress that tags along with it. From the last post to now, I :

1. Went to Six Flags Magic Mountain with my awesome boyfriend, Justin (It was seriously the hottest day to go to an amusement park...I was sweating like no other!)

2. Drove to Las Vegas, NV with my family and Justin for a two night stay (Again, very hot. But I had loads of fun spending quality time with people I love and care about.)

3. Moved into my new apartment in New York for my third year at NYU!

4. Macbook broke for a couple days because of hardware issues.

Moving into my apartment was one of the most stressful events of my life, but I am glad I get this chance to experience being on my own and moving on to become an adult. Running around from IKEA to Bed, Bath, and Beyond is what I did for my last week of summer and now that school has started, I know I'll be busy studying and interning, but I want to be able to dedicate time to this blog so bear with me even if I take a while to post. I promise I will do a mini-apartment tour soon and show you guys how I decorated my space!

Let me know if any of you are back in school or if you're still enjoying summer! I am jealous of my little sister who is not starting her first semester of college until October (any guesses on where she is attending? Hint: It's in CA).

Love you all,

Yujin
