August '15 • Vitamin D

Saturday, August 1, 2015

A long and scorching July has come to an end and today marks the first day of August. With only a month's time left of summer, I'm making the effort to do more things and see more things before I have to trek my way back to school (that is, for my final year in college *gasp*). I'm not a big fan of direct sunlight, mainly because I'm still pretty self conscious of the state of my skin in the sun, but when I saw this enormous window at the Brooklyn Museum, I thought 'Eh, screw it', and let myself soak in all that Vitamin D.

My interest in the '70s trend is in full swing with this outfit, bandanna and all. Not so much a fan of suede when the temperature soars to 90 degrees, but hey, I guess it's balanced out with the off-the-shoulder top. Also, snaps to my sister for lending me her gladiator sandals--didn't mean to coordinate with all the suede, but I'm happy with it. Here's to a happy August!
I'm wearing: Zara off-the-shoulder top, American Apparel circle skirt, Topshop sandals, bandana, H&M bag, Ray Ban sunglasses

July '15 • How to Wear White When You're Lazy

Sunday, July 26, 2015

Whenever I wear anything white--top, jeans, or shoes--I find myself hyper aware of the dirt and grime that can stain my ever-so-crisp white pieces. So I was pretty surprised when this *amazing*, but all-white jumpsuit caught my attention at the Pixie Market sample sale a couple weeks back. I wouldn't usually pick something like this up because I'd probably have anxiety attacks over ruining the jumpsuit every time I place my bum on a chair. But this jumpsuit was calling my name--I really don't have anything like this in my closet and the crochet detailing on the stomach and chest makes it versatile for causal wear as well as formal (which is what I need desperately in my "T-shirt-and-jean-shorts' filled rack). However, the reason why this was at the sample sale (and so cheap--$20!) was because the back zipper was broken, and fixing that cost me another $30.

Still! I think this is a great find and hopefully I can think of different ways to wear this for other occasions beside work. To keep with the "white" theme, I wore my Vagabond Lindi sandals for some extra height and kept simple with no jewelry.
I'm wearing: Pixie Market jumpsuit, Vagabond Lindi sandals, Ray Ban sunglasses

July '15 • Office Inspo Outfits #1

Wednesday, July 22, 2015

Monday: Channeling the inner '70s girl/ Top: Urban Outfitters, Skirt: Pixie Market, Sandals: Jeffrey Campbell
Wednesday: Short hair don't care/ Vest: Unknown, Dress: Pixie Market, Sandals: H&M
Thursday: Call me 'Sheep Herder'/ Top: Zara, Pinafores: Topshop

Welcome to the first edition of Office Inspo Outfits! This is a segment of my blog where I show YOU what I wear to my internship three times a week.

I am unintentionally wearing denim for all three outfits ,which really goes to show how much I love and rely on denim. My first outfit calls to the 70's trend that we've been seeing everywhere--high neck embroidered top borrowed from the one and only sister (great part about having her over for the summer: I get to steal all her cute clothes *0*), and a jean skirt I scored at the Pixie Market sample sale a couple weeks back. The shoes are Jeffrey Campbell, but it was not the right day to wear them because I had to walk up and down 5th Avenue doing an errand for the editor and I ended up with nasty blisters on my toes and heels. Oh, the shoes I wear for fashion! (RIP my feet).

Wednesday is hump day and hump day is never exciting. However, I did get a haircut the day before, so I was ready to head in the office and show off my new do! Definitely the shortest I've ever had, but I kind of like it (like A LOT). To ease into this new style, I wore a LBD--must-have in every girl's closet, am I right?!--and covered up with a jean vest for an appropriate office look.

And finally, Thursday! The weekend is sooo close and I'm ready to get out! This look is 'sheep herder'-ish with the white off-the-shoulder top and denim pinafores, channeling another decade we've been loving: the 90s (I am proud to be a 90s baby--1993 represent!).

June '15 • Dressing for the Flea

Friday, June 26, 2015

Urban Outfitters dress, H&M hat, Coach bag, Crystal Chimera necklace

Here is a quick outfit I wore to the Brooklyn flea last weekend! Little bit of bag lady vibes, but it was perfect for my day of browsing the vintage stands in Williamsburg. No luck picking up clothing items, but I did find this dainty gold bat necklace from Artists and Fleas. I've been interested in collecting smaller jewelry and this one caught my eye as I was eagerly stomping through the various vendors. I guess it's a favorite of mine now since I haven't taken it off since I bought it. Look forward to seeing this little guy on my neck in upcoming ootds (Maybe I should name him--any suggestions?)

TGIF everyone!

Urban Outfitters shirt, H&M shorts, Adidas Stan Smith sneakers, Ray Ban sunglasses, Forever 21 jewelry, Coach bag

Hey everyone!

Posting a quick summer look for you guys today. I think my color palette consists of white, black, and blue these days, so my apologies for the similar style of outfit, but I wear what I want haha! Since interning at ELLE, I've been interested in putting together semi-causal outfits because I don't want to look too sloppy at work, but at the same time, I want to stay true to my style. I bought this button up on the Urban Outfitters website (so many stores are having summer sales right now so browse around!) and the white shorts are from H&M. This is definitely a fuss-free outfit that I can see myself wearing throughout the summer (sorry, I AM an outfit-repeater--aka Lizze Mcguire anybody?) And of course, my love--Adidas Stan Smith--had to be worn with this look because I've converted to a sneaker head since beginning of this year! These babies actually took a while for me to break them in--the tabs on the heels gave me nasty blisters because they're really stiff leather sneakers--but they're super comfortable now and I can walk on NYC pavement for hours!

It's a beautiful Sunday today and I'm headed my way towards Brooklyn! Hopefully I can capture some of the activities I'm doing today and update you guys later :) Thanks for reading and let me know what you guys are doing today or this summer! I love reading your stories <3

June '15 • I'M BACK/ NAUTICAL VIBES

Saturday, June 13, 2015

Brandy Melville top, Zara trousers, Steve Madden platforms, Prada bag, Ray Ban sunglasses

Hello, guys!

I know, I know...being gone for six months is  unacceptable, but I'm back!

Honestly, junior year second semester was the busiest semester I've ever had in my college career, but I survived and did pretty well ;) And now that it is officially summer, I thought I would pick things back up and update the good ol' blog with summer outfits and my everyday life in the Big Apple.

I wrapped up my internship at Into The Gloss back in May (it was an awesome experience--might do a looking back post on this) and started a new internship at ELLE.com! And I have both my boyfriend and sister staying with me over the summer so I'll always have a +2 wherever I go (#squad). I'm super excited because this is the first time I'm spending the summer in NYC, and yeah I miss the West Coast (best coast <3), I'm looking forward to everything that New York has to offer me.

I kept things pretty simple with this outfit--a basic high neck top for the base and the nautical-feel pants for a pop of color!

I am going to sign off for today because my apartment is a billion degrees and I feel the NY sunshine baking me to toast brown. Thanks for reading!

January '15 • What's in my Backpack?

Tuesday, January 27, 2015

Happy Tuesday!

If you've been following the weather reports here on the East coast, NY was hit with the #Blizzardof2015 (Also known as Juno? I find naming snow storms and hurricanes funny). The predictions were that the City would be covered in at least 20 something inches of snow, making it one of the worst storms we've ever seen. But when I opened my blinds this morning expecting to see the worst...Where's the snow?

Yeah, there was snow on the ground and all, but definitely not 20 plus inches. It turns out the storm didn't hit us as bad as we thought it would! Funny because everyone was bracing for the worst and cancelled classes and work days, and it turns out to be nice and bright out today haha! Today is the second day of classes, but NYU decided to close for the day because of the weather. I was also suppose to start my internship at Into The Gloss/Glossier today, but they also closed for the day, so here I am enjoying the somewhat disappointing snow day (it's not even snowing anymore...what :/ ). Oh, I'm not complaining since a day off is always nice, but I just started school and just ended my six week long winter break so it's throwing me off a little. Definitely need time to adjust back to the busy schedule!

Since it is the beginning of a new semester and my backpack is not yet cluttered with all the junk I pile up throughout the semester, I thought I'd do a What's in my Backpack! This pleather backpack is from Brady Melville which was a birthday gift from last year given to me by my lovely baby sister (She's really not a baby...18 years old, but I still think of her as a little girl haha). I really like it because it looks small, but it can fit so many things! Water bottle, bunch of books and notebooks, wallet, laptop...you name it!

Here are some of the basic things I carry around with me on a normal school day:

1. Gum: I happen to have Juicy Fruit with me right now because my boyfriend bought a bunch when he was here and left them, so now they're mine.

2. Oil Blotting Sheets: A must for my oily face! This one from Clean and Clear is probably the best out of all the other ones I've tried. It just soaks up all the excess oil on your T-zone and anywhere else on your face.

3. Hand Lotion: I'm not a big lotion person, but during the winter, hand lotion is necessary to keep your hands from being dry and crackly.

4. Glossier Balm Dotcom: This universal skin salve is great for any place on your body that needs moisture! I mostly use it as a lip balm and it works wonders :) And how cute are the stickers? They give you a bunch of stickers to decorate and customize your Glossier products. (Click for the link to Glossier's website!!)

5. Benebalm: I used to be a huge fan of Benefit's Benetint when I was in high school because of the rose scent and the pretty red tint it leaves on your lips, but I found it very drying, so I use the Benebalm which gives me the same effect as the tint but also moisturizing at the same time.

6. Moleskine Planner and Notebook, Muji Notebook : The basic planner and notebook combo. I like Moleskine notebooks because they are sturdy and minimalistic. I also recently discovered Muji notebooks and fell it love! They are much cheaper than Moleskine notebooks and they come in various sizes.

7. Tres Chic Pencil Pouch: This pencil pouch is from Forever 21 and when I bought this, I actually didn't know what I would use it for since it is a very flat pouch and I didn't want to overstuff it and ruin the shape. I carry my essential pens and pencils in this to keep myself from carrying too many things I don't use.

8. iPhone 6 with Marble Case: I switched over from the iPhone 5 to 6 maybe a month ago? I thought the 6 was way too big when I first saw it, but it's not as bad as I thought it would be after using it. And this phone has superb camera quality!

9. Hologram Wallet: I got this at Urban Outfitters (I don't remember when) and I really like it as my everyday wallet because it's small, chic and perfect for me to easily reach my Metro card or school ID.

That's it! Thanks for reading, and I'm going to get cracking on some homework now! Love you lots, muah!

Yujin

Zara coat, H&M cardigan, Express blouse, Madewell pants, H&M belt, Nike Air Max 90 Essential sneakers, Zara bucket bag

Realizing that my winter break is coming to a close and I am one step closer to the craziness that will be my spring semester equals me screaming: ...what?! I wanted to start 2015 off strong, but so far, I'm feeling a bit moody and unmotivated due to the constant cold (the Cali girl in me is silently sobbing) and Justin going back home after a two-week stay. However, there is so much for me to look forward to and I know this slump is just temporary--spring is just around the corner, my new internship, fresh new start to my junior year second semester!

I've made a couple of New Year's resolutions in the beginning of the month and one notable one is to reach out to other NYC bloggers and maybe try to connect with you guys outside of the internet! It would be nice to befriend other bloggers in person because it does get lonely from time to time when I find myself not being able to share my enthusiasm for blogging to my friends who don't blog regularly. Any NYC fashion bloggers that want to meet up, shoot me an e-mail! Let's be friends! (But really, you guys are all my friends <3)

January '15 • Winter Wonderland

Friday, January 9, 2015

UO fur jacket, Aeropostale jeans, Topshop socks, Topshop flats, Zara bucket bag, Forever 21 scarf

Happy 2015!

With the start of the new year, the City decided to turn into a winter wonderland! Although the temperatures dropped very drastically (22 degrees?!), seeing the blanket of snow outside my window made me want to venture out and enjoy it! So my boyfriend and I walked over to Central Park and walked across from the west to east side, jumping and goofing around in the snow like children! xD With us both being from LA, this type of environment was all so new and we really enjoyed ourselves to a picturesque winter day.

I did not realize how difficult it is to dress for winter when it's below freezing outside, but I tried my best by pairing this awesome fur coat I picked up from the Urban Outfitters sale during the holiday season. It insulates a lot of heat and there is wiggle room to layer more underneath the jacket so I was feeling toasty warm. Socks are a MUST in the winter months, and yes I don't really like wearing socks, but these Topshop houndstooth socks are both stylish and thick enough to trap heat for my feet. My bag of choice as of right now is this Zara bucket bag that I (also) picked up from the end of the year sale and it literally holds everything and anything because it's so big! I can roll in another scarf in there if I wanted to--and a water bottle, a book, etc...it's pretty spacious.

I enjoy the snow and crisp winter air, but I do wish it was a little warmer. When I walk around outside, I can feel my face turing solid like ice and can barely make an expression because it hurts to even move my nose. I hope everyone is staying warm wherever you are, and those of you in a warmer climate, I wish I was there with you! Appreciate the heat when you can!
